Examines social issues relating to past and present life circumstances of ethnic groups in the United States with an emphasis on the experiences of Native American, African American, Asian American, and Latinx communities. Uses an interdisciplinary ethnic studies framework to investigate the role of racism in shaping the economic, political, and cultural status of ethnic groups in the United States. Emphasizes the development of identity, resistance, and social movements as responses to racial and ethnic marginalization. May be offered in a distance learning format.
