Here at The New York Sewing Center, our love of crafting and sewing began at a very young age, which is why we love to inspire the next generation of fashion designers with this camp!
This course is a 5 day summer camp program for young students to express their creativity & grow their love of sewing through fun seasonal projects that they will be proud to say they made!
We start at a beginner level so everyone can follow along and even replicate their projects at home for family and friends.
During this course you will learn:
- fashion sketching and mood boards
- how to properly thread and use a sewing machine
- basic sewing techniques and terminology
- how to sew accessories and clothing
- hand and machine stitching & seam finishes, appliqué and trim application
- embroidery
fashion sketching & mood boards, weaving, pillows, scrunchies and elastic waist skirt.
*Parent or an adult must be present for sewing portion for virtual classes only
FABRIC AND SUPPLIES
- Students will need to have a sewing machine, thread, scissors, pins, ruler, colored pencils, mechanical pencil and magazines that can be cut and used for mood boards.
COURSE DURATION: 5 days; classes will be broken up into 3 sections.
- 1st hour: sewing
- 2nd hour: fashion sketching and mood boards
- 3rd hour: lunch break while viewing a runway show during lunch.
- Last hour: hand embroidery.
Classes will be recorded for virtual classes in case you miss a class or need to rewatch a project so you can finish on your own. You can request the recording each day after classes if you need to watch again.
