Develop confidence painting the faces of the ones you love or inspire you! The human face is an exciting study but many students find it challenging and intimidating. In our class course, over a period of weeks, you will develop confidence through preliminary drawing and sketching exercises as we study the human face through composition & dynamic poses; 3/4 views and non-traditional angles and action poses to give our subjects a realistic feel. Then we will move on to painting fully realized facial portraits on canvas. This is a great class for observational skills, and work from personal subject matter: photos and pictures of loved ones or faces of people you admire or who capture your imagination. Learn color mixing and how to capture texture like hair and skin and clothing and jewelry, learn how to set your subject in the right setting and how to employ light, to make tonal, emotional, and mood changes. At the end of the course, your instructor will offer valuable critique to help you continue your journey. This is an excellent class for students working on portfolios and thinking about a career in the visual arts who are building up a body of work or for beginners up to a challenge! Return students are very welcome in this class.
