In this course, you will develop your English conversational skills that you can use to build your personal and professional relationships. Learning activities in this course will take place on Voxy, an engaging language learning platform that automatically adapts to your current level and your performance across reading, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary skills so that every lesson is optimized for rapid improvement. Each week is made up of engaging, short, task-based lessons that can be done anywhere, anytime. Lessons include content from the real world, so you will learn from dozens of real news articles, social media posts, professional development content, and conversations about current issues and controversies regarding the media. By the end of the course, you will feel confident navigating and reacting to all kinds of media in English, whether mainstream news reports, social media, or professional articles and blogs.

  • Course Introduction & Voxy Orientation
    • This week, you will learn about this course and understand how to use Voxy's innovative platform.
  • Following Current Events
    • This week, you will learn about different ways to follow the news and where people look to find out what's happening in the world. You will also learn how to discuss your feelings about what you see or hear in the news.
  • Social Media
    • In this module, you will explore the world of social media and how it can impact our lives beyond the screen. In addition to the different uses of it, you'll also learn about some of the risks associated with sharing information online.
  • Professional Development Content
    • This week, you will learn how to grow your hard and soft skills to advance your career. You'll also learn how to make yourself stand out in a crowded job market by maintaining an online presence.
  • Interviews and Q&A
    • In this module, you will see, read about, and hear people being interviewed. Along with hearing about diverse perspectives and getting advice from successful people, you'll learn how to promote products and services and make predictions about the future in an interview context.
  • Final Tasks: The Media
    • This week, you will use everything you learned to use both written and spoken forms of media.
