An outstanding learning opportunity. The course was superbly designed and executed by the team at Monash Univ. I appreciated the structure, content, pace, video inputs from very learned judges, pace, the challenges presented (great for engagement), the wide community of learners - in fact I can hardly think of anything to improve. It took me nearer five hours a week than three, but that may be due to my interaction and what I chose to do rather than the course design.

I didn't now what to expect, but I enjoyed every minute of this course. It combines a good mixture of video lectures, with study videos, questions, debates, class involvement, self study, guidance on how to study, etc. The course duration (one month) and the amount of work per week was also well balanced. I missed the first week due to work commitments, but was able to catch up quickly. I never felt overloaded (despite also performing a full time job) and always looked forward to the next module. Modules were short, so it was easy to stop and restart the course at any time. It was also interesting to hear views from around the world - I think everyone in the world should do this course!

This introduction to law was excellent in every way. The tutors were engaging and the presentation of the material was clear and inspiring. The exercises were relevant and demanded that one researched the way law is applied in one's own jurisdiction. I for one discovered several useful links that apply to many aspects of everyday life. I was particularly impressed by the opinions expressed by former judges and their end of course summary was enlightening and encouraging. This course should continue and go from strength to strength. I would recommend this course wholeheartedly to anyone with even the slightest interest in the law, which should be all of us!

    Great course:
Content was interesting, relevant and important to our every day lives.
Instructors were clear, engaging, friendly and interactive with one another and with learners.
Futurelearn is intuitive, attractive to look at and integrated well with your emails so you are alerted when there's new material.

If I could make one suggestion it would be more quiz questions, as I find these one of the best ways for me to confirm my knowledge or motivate me to learn more.

This course has been a great opportunity to reaffirm some concepts and to learn new ones. It was very well deveolped and explained by all the Professors and Judges who gave their views on the common law development. I am very much grateful for having had the opportunity to take part in it, to learn , and to reflect upon many complex legal issues triggered by the Professors. Many thanks indeed!

The learner has taken law as a course in his MBA and done an online diploma too. Compared to those, the learner would say the efficiency and effectiveness of educating contract law, criminal law, tort law and intellectual property law through this course are much more greater. Can be considered as another productive effort of Monash University and appreciate futurelearn on hosting it.
  • A really interesting and useful course. For me it cleared up a number of misconceptions on the matters of law that we meet regularly in our daily lives - sometimes without fully realising it - and although the course only scratched the surface, I now feel more confident about my knowledge of these things. It has whetted my appetite for more! I would recommend this course to everyone.

The course was very insightful and gave practical information relating to laws and how they can they be applied in everyday life. The course also gave the opportunity to do our own research which was very beneficial.

It was an amazing experience at my first shot at Law.

Though, I am not a lawyer but the course has help to appreciate the importance of law in our day to day lives.
I now know about my rights how to protect and demand for them and how to respect the rights of others.

Contract law and Tort of Negligence impacted on me the most.

It is a very useful course and I recommend it for others.

I really enjoyed this course. I didn't really know much about the law, but I found this a great introduction. Clear and thought provoking discussions.

This course is only offered online, so there are no options for in-person... feel good for legal study time for additional knowledge, maybe for future help individuals who can not afford to pay legal fees
