Green Business Strategy

The course was great and I will no doubt use what I have learned during this course in my future endeavors. The content was interesting, the videos packed with great content and the quizzes at the end of each module were a great way to test how much you'd learned. The deadlines were reasonable and I would say this is a great introduction for people wanting to know more about Green Business Strategy. I would have given this 5 stars but I found that the last week's quiz did not correlate with the material covered in the week 4 module, especially questions 5 & 6 (which were a problem for lots of people in the forum too). I kept getting the answers wrong for those 2 questions which meant my result was 77.7% - you need 80% to pass. In the end I was just trying different options until I got the result I needed which in my opinion was not a great way to end such an interesting and valuable course. I never got question 6 right despite going over the course material again and again and selecting what was covered in the videos, but I got question 5 which was enough to pass. My opinion is that you should either a) add one more question to the test which will make it possible to get the 80% without having to go back and guess b) change the wording of those questions or c) indicate which selections in those questions are correct/incorrect after submitting the test so you know which area you need to look at again.

The content of the module is very enlightening! I once thought that one had to choose between supporting sustainability or supporting business; black or white. But, this course taught me that there is in fact a wide spectrum in between, and that businesses are not the only player out there that has to change, but also the government and policy makers, and the society--everyone has to play its part.

On the grading part, it is actually rather disappointing. Quizzes, in my opinion, are supposed to be a tool to assess the students' understanding; but in this case, they were rather poorly designed that students got their answers right by being dictated 100% by the lecture notes--the scope of the quiz should have covered more than just assessing the students' memory. To add to that, there was no explanation of each answer, which prompted the students to do "eeny, meeny, miny, moe" till they got it right, if they did!

Overall, to future students, I'd suggest that you take advantage of the good quality lecture content, and don't bother too much about the quizzes, unless you need the cert, of course ;)

The professor and his material are like good french wine. It leaves one hanging and wishing for a bit more. In this case, a lot more.

Each of the topics merit a course to itself, especially if we want to lead and guide our organizations/firms towards sustainability. We need more mental weapons.

The quizzes were devilishly difficult to pass, much less perfect. Quizzes are meant to guide us what to study or review more; the material is meant to lead one to the answers. In this particular course, the questions which can be answered by 2 or more items are difficult to the point of frustrating and counterproductive; if the fine gradations of mental understanding are intended, there should be more sessions with case studies that help us think these through.

Lastly, the Orsato original material is difficult to navigate; perhaps this and related material present an opportunity for the professor to come up with a good book that focuses on why and how to.

This course is a good overview. It is convincing on the why (more or less). But as potential/future business leaders, we need a clearer guide, more cases perhaps, on the how to, what pitfalls, challenges, and breakthrough. A good course that I will definitely recommend to peers.
