This course offers unique lectures by the leading professors of St. Petersburg State University, interesting assignments, interactive maps and much more. The online course «History of Russia» follows the tradition of teaching Russian history at St. Petersburg State University, which is distinguished by its approach to the analysis of historical problems and the scientific understanding of events, periods, epochs in their historical relationship. Thoroughly selected factual material serves as the basis that enables learners to conduct an independent analysis of the history of Russian state. The course covers the history of the Russian state from the years of the New Economic Policy to the 21st century and the learners and the learners are welcome to join the discussion on the topical issues of Russian history. Upon completion of the course, learners will shape a structured understanding of the main stages of Russian history, based on facts and concepts that are established and acknowledged in historiography.

2. The USSR in the 1930s — 1940s.
3. The USSR During the Great Patriotic War.
4. Foreign and Domestic Policy of the USSR in the Second Half of the XX century.
5. The Political life of Russia.

  • Russia in the Years of the New Economic Policy. 1921-1929
    • In the first module, you will learn the history of Russia during the years of the New Economic Policy. Lecturer - Doctor of Historical Sciences Mikhail Viktorovich
  • The USSR in the 1930s — 1940s
    • In the second module, you will learn about the history of the USSR in the 1930s. Lecturer - Doctor of Historical Sciences Elena Dmitrievna Tverdyukova.
  • The USSR During the Great Patriotic War
    • The third module is devoted to the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Lecturer - Doctor of Historical Sciences Ilya Sergeevich Ratkovsky.
  • Foreign and Domestic Policy of the USSR in the Second Half of the XX Century
    • In the fourth module, students will learn about the history of Russia in the second half of the 20th century. Lecturer, Doctor of Historical Sciences Matvey Fedorovich Polynov.
  • The Political Life of Russia
    • The last module of the course is devoted to the history of Russia in the late XX - early XXI centuries. Lecturer - Candidate of Historical Sciences Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Tarasova.
