This activity will train physicians how to use the new electronic medical records system, which will provide better support of patient care. This course covers admitting, consulting, and discharging patients. Scenarios include updating the problem list, writing notes, and managing orders along with medication reconciliation.

Syllabus

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the “In Basket” for any messages that may need participant’s attention;
  • Locate a patient chart in the electronic medical records system;
  • Select relevant information from a patient’s chart;
  • Create a patient note for the specific condition or situation (i.e., progress notes, procedure notes, delivery notes);
  • Respond to any abnormal results (labs, x-rays, etc.) per institutional policy;
  • Enter orders for a patient.
