I liked the course content, and the combination of technical and philosophical topics. It forced me to think about topics that previously seemed a little bit too abstract for my literal mind.

However, I found the user interface with the engangement questions a little bit confusing - Information was no self-contained in the questions and could be easily overlooked. More excercises could have been made interactive (e.g. the Euler Diagram and State transitions).

I undertook this course by chance, but now I can really treasure how much I have learnt into the world of AI, even though it was very basic and preliminary! It's just the beginning of a long journey, but once our spark is ignited by it's flavour and course material, it simply becomes amazing and you...

The overall and weekly course objectives were stated clearly, much more clearly than many other courses I have explored.

The course had lots of reading, including extra links to other pages. There were no videos. Each chapter’s material consisted of three pages, but they were long pages full of comprehensive information. It was an excellent introduction to just what AI is and the implications in today's society of the many applications of AI both now and into the future. The assessments were unforgiving, with only one attempt available for most questions. I made basic mistakes in some answers but managed to pass the course quite comfortably.

I found the course surprisingly interesting!

The course covered the basics with lots of exercises. Many of the exercises were designed to evaluate how well the student understood the concepts, rather than whether the student had just read the material. I particularly liked how the course demystified AI by linking it to past concepts and theories. New ideas are often presented out of context (both in terms of related ideas and how the concepts are used) which makes understanding them and their relevance more difficult.

I look forward to additional courses in the series.

I think it was an interesting course and something I have been searching for. I already had some pre-knowledge about AI, but this course put it into a better context and made me think critical about certain aspects of AI. One example where I got more knowledge is the difference between general AI compared...

I like the kind of awareness this course provides, helping everyone from different works of life to see how they can relate in the fields of AI. One of the most simple, non-boring, good material content, captivating free online certification course ever. Thought at first I will not have enough time to take the course because of my kind of schedule but when I started, just with my mobile phone, I couldn't let the course down. The most exciting part was wanting to see what your peers think about your review and waiting for your certificate.

On my quest to understand and explore the world of data-science, I found the course, Elements of AI, in a Medium post about top 20 courses for data-science beginners. I started right away. I found the lessons to be exclusively written for beginners with simple to understand language with real-world examples....

This is a course for you who want to familiar youself with AI on a general level, to be able to more distinct understand the possibilities and limitations of this matter, and be able to critically understand medial picture.

The design is fresh, with lots of practical moments and problem solving. Thus enhancing learning.

Some parts of the course has a pretty low academic level, more targeting people with no matematic or statistic knowledge.

The part I liked the most is the last part when discussing AI in the context of today's media and debate. I would have liked more of that discussion, and less practicing on counting game theory and statistics. (the wolf, hen and grain exercise was for the elementary school).

But I strongly recommend 1% of the population to take this course. A follow up, with a discussion on influencers and critics in the field would be a great thing.

Having started to read some books on AI, like Superintelligence, I felt like this course was lacking some information. I also felt like there was part focus on information and part focus on math, but it didn't really flow togetehr as coherently as I would have expected. Still a great course to learn the basics and to get some repetiion of statistics and math that can absolutely be useful further on. Would love to see a more advanced version of this course wiht maybe twice the focus on math and some more information regarding different types of AI solutions. Would love for it to be more tehcnical regarding neural networks and dive mroe deeply into recent changes in the technology. It seems like a lot of focus was on the philosophical side of AI, which is interesting but not so practical.

I'm currently a TESOL teacher. However, as AI is gradually invading our lives, it's inevitable for me not to learn to know it.

I took this course according to a fellow teacher at my academy. He told me that nobody can explain everything to me and I should take an AI course. I can learn it bit by bit. He introduced this Helsinki's course to me. I started to register and learn it online. It was wonderful and helped me to understand something other experts said in an AI meeting. This is great course and suitable for everyone, especially non-technical or non-engineering staff members and ordinary people.

Wow! The course was really enlightening. I really learnt a lot and even though i did not study Computer or AI courses in college, i was still able to catch up and flow along. By God's grace i made a 95% out of 100%. I'm so much happy for this. It was a beautiful experience. Spectrum forum also helped a lot. Thanks to everyone who has a hand in this. A very big thank you to Reaktor, University of Helsinki and the government of Finland for the opportunity and for making it free. I will be happy and willing to join in for the upcoming courses. Also, the links provided at the end of the course for continued learning are helpful. Thanks a lot.

I liked the course Elements of AI. I follow it and completed it in few weeks, just to see what it offers. I'm Professor in the University and I was just curious to see how the course is presented and with which content. I found it pleasant and accessible and really up to date in its content.

I have to focus on the format adopted for course pages and exercises, I would like to say the font, colors etc. it is really fun and motivating to continue the course to the end.

I recommend this course to every one who is interested in knowing more about AI of today and near tomorrow.

In my opinion this course is perfect.

First because is very clearly written which is of paramount importance for people like me which mother tongue is not English, so we don’t get lost in lexical and grammatical complexity.

Second because it avoid entering deeper in mathematical formulas and algorithms and programming language which will make it impossible to follow for some of us.

Thence the course make a very good effort in teaching the general introduction of such a complex matter in only six chapters , which I think is a tremendous task.

Its a well designed course on AI. It started from basics of artificial intelligence, what AI can do presently, whether there are any potental threat from AI etc. The best part is that it deals with so many advanced topics like CNN, GAN etc. with so much simplicity that the idea and importance will be clearly understood. In brief a very nice AI course which will provide really good introduction of the subject and impart interest to learn more and advanced topics on machine learning and deep learning etc. Really enjoyed all the assignments.

I've been working in a bank for 29 years and in IT for 26 years. I chose to take this course for my personal update and to satisfy my innate curiosity. The banking sector is slowly but surely moving towards a new definition of work. IT is, as always, a component that must allow banks to keep up with the times and AI is certainly a new frontier that must be explored and that must give food for thought to generate new opportunities and new services in order to meet stakeholders' expectations.

I found this course interesting and necessary for a basic understanding if AI. The course was structured so that the concepts evolved nicely from beginning to end.

I recommend this course to anyone who wants to start their journey into the understanding of AI. I now have more insight into the biases of google search and facebook ads and i understand the need to look for alternative searches so as to not be bogged down by liberal biases as exemplified in google, facebook, and twitter.

I found this course very intuitive and with a good mix of theory and exercises. The peer review system allows you to see how others are reasoning and is very interesting as well. The explanations are clear and the course takes a very objective approach to AI, demystifying it but at the same time stating clearly the advantages that this technology will bring in the future (and is already bringing). A must if you want to understand better all the upcoming changes in our society, which will be accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Not being from science background but still having a curiosity in modern day science especially A.I. led me to this course. This course covers the basic points and contains many links which allows us to dig deeper if we want. I would suggest this course to anyone who wants to explore AI but doesnt know how to. I hope that this course helps you achieve whatever target you have in your mind.
