  • The Elements of AI is an exceptional online course that provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of artificial intelligence. The course is created by the University of Helsinki and Reaktor, and it is available for free to anyone who wants…
  • The overall and weekly course objectives were stated clearly, much more clearly than many other courses I have explored.

The course had lots of reading, including extra links to other pages. There were no videos. Each chapter’s material consisted of three pages, but they were long pages full of comprehensive information. It was an excellent introduction to just what AI is and the implications in today's society of the many applications of AI both now and into the future. The assessments were unforgiving, with only one attempt available for most questions. I made basic mistakes in some answers but managed to pass the course quite comfortably.

I found the course surprisingly interesting!

The course on elements of AI provided a comprehensive and informative overview of the field. The content was well-structured and easy to follow, making it accessible to beginners like myself. The course covered a wide range of topics, including mach…
  • This was a good introduction to AI for those of use who are not steeped in the world of computers. Demystifying it and also clarifying key concepts surrounding AI were, in my opinion, accomplished by this course. After taking it, it whetted my appetite for other branches related to this like Machine Learning.
Overall, it's easy to grasp and easy to follow and also easy to finish. I finished it in 3 weeks or less even with normal commitments.

Erinomaisen kiinnostavasti toteutettu kurssiaineisto, jonka rakenne on selkeä.

The course covered the basics with lots of exercises. Many of the exercises were designed to evaluate how well the student understood the concepts, rather than whether the student had just read the material. I particularly liked how the course demystified AI by linking it to past concepts and theories. New ideas are often presented out of context (both in terms of related ideas and how the concepts are used) which makes understanding them and their relevance more difficult.

I look forward to additional courses in the series.

As an elementary course it was outstanding. Positive and encouraging it encourages students' courage and curiosity for a new science. The text was clear and easy to understand even for a student not familiar with computer sciences. The tasks at the end of each chapter highlighted the essentials of the preceeding text which, at least for me, was very helpful. And fortunately, you could take the course without having to be able to code.

Now that I have taken the course I feel like wanting to read the texts once more as I have got an overall idea about what AI is all about. And I want to continue studying AI, thanks for this elementary course.

I like the kind of awareness this course provides, helping everyone from different works of life to see how they can relate in the fields of AI. One of the most simple, non-boring, good material content, captivating free online certification course ever. Thought at first I will not have enough time to take the course because of my kind of schedule but when I started, just with my mobile phone, I couldn't let the course down. The most exciting part was wanting to see what your peers think about your review and waiting for your certificate.

Complete and concise. Easy to follow. Very good as an introduction to AI. Basic concepts and tools are described in the different chapters. You can measure your understanding and your progress by solving the proposed excercises. Good tool for the knowledge of AI. Mathematical concepts are explained at a basic level to make them understandable to non specialists. Aslo daily life examples help you to understand technical issues that otherwise would be more difficult. After six weeks one has enough knowledge about the subject and one feels driven to try more advanced courses abou AI

A great online course, I can fully recommend it to anyone regardless of background or education - a basic level understanding of how AI works should be general knowledge these days. Well-put-together, clear and understandable, yet engaging enough even for my short attention span.

My only complaint is that peer reviewing some of the written answers was awful - just because there was so many inappropriate answers that clicking through them was a pain. A naive bayes classifier would easily differentiate the majority of inappropriate answers from the appropriate ones ;)
