Overview

The wealth in the Indian Ocean drove the first Dutch visitors to accidentally sail to WA's shores, in their pursuit of a faster route to reach the Spice Islands. Four centuries later, its turquoise blue waters offer a sea of opportunities just within our reach. There is still a lot we don't know about the Indian Ocean, which is arguably the least explored of the world's oceans. But we do know that it - like many other oceans around the world - is under stress from overfishing, pollution, climate change and sea level rise.

I'd say give this course a body swerve for two reasons. The Grading is annoying. You get three tries at the quizzes, but the first is worth 100%, second 90%, and third 80%. There is no point doing the quiz twice or even three times. That wouldn't be so bad, but the Peer Assessment is also set at 40% of the grade. Bearing in mind that the pass mark is 70%, it becomes hard to pass, since the quizzes only add up to 60%. The quizzes are quite tricky and ask questions which were described briefly, differently or passed over quickly. I'm on week 5 now, but not happy about the overall course.. Course material is okay, in fact it's easy. So why has the grading been made so difficult. Since these pdf certificates have no credentianial value at all. So why do this? if your first language isn't English then you are have an extra difficulty. The Spanish accent of the professor might be difficult for non-native English speakers.
