Dartmouth Health Continuing Education for Professionals Home, General Internal Medicine Education Conference 2020 - Management of Hepatitis C in Primary Care 6/25/2020, 6/25/2020 8:00:00 AM - 6/25/2023 9:00:00 AM, New screening guidelines based on changing epidemiology are leading to more diagnoses of Hepatitis C and a greater need for treatment than can be met by gastrointestinal and infectious disease specialists. Newer anti-viral medications that are safer, more effective, and simpler to use make treatment in primary care practical. This presentation, together with a new Knowledge Map guideline and the assistance of a specialty pharmacy, will guide the primary care provider through treating their patient's hepatitis C in the primary care setting.

Learning Outcome(s)
Participants will be able to describe the epidemiology, natural history, and treatment options of/for Hepatitis C, including a newly formulated management algorithm, and to be aware of new USPSTF screening recommendations and the rationale for treating patients in primary care.
