North Indian Classical Music I: Fundamental Elements

Universitat Pompeu Fabra via Kadenze

Overview

This is the first course of the North Indian Classical Music program, which aims to introduce this music tradition to any music motivated learner by combining theoretical and practical teaching approaches. This course presents the fundamental elements of North Indian Classical Music, from the Swara (note) and Laya (tempo) to the concepts of Raga (melodic framework) and Tala (rhythm framework). One of the best courses on Indian Classical Music that I have found online. The course is well structured and affordable as well. The creators of this course have made it suitable for total beginners. They take you from very beginning to an advanced level. Also the exercises along the course help you practice the concepts and get a good grasp on a particular topic. The course language is very clear. The instructors are highly experienced and knowledgeable in their respective fields. Anyone who want to learn about Indian classical music, I will recommend this course to them.

I paid 45 USD for this course. That is how it was advertised. A couple of months later, I could not access the course. When I contacted Kadenze, I was told that I had to pay a monthly membership fee if I wanted to continue. That is the hidden condition. Please be Aware.

I have given 1 star because it is a very good course.
