In today’s digitally connected world, an engaging, distinctive website is a necessity for artists, musicians, designers, and creators. This course provides an introduction to website design and development for artists, providing the tools to create and maintain a unique online identity. In this course, you will learn how to build a custom website for your online artistic presence and portfolio, and how to leverage content management systems to develop and manage your site. You will also learn how to customize your site further with HTML, CSS, and PHP, three building blocks of the modern Web. This class will teach essential skills for designing and organizing your website, so you can create a site that is both visually distinctive and engaging. Over weekly assignments, you will develop an actual, live website from simple HTML to a full-featured site with galleries, analytics, social media integration, and other advanced features.

The information presented is pretty easy to follow. It is nice to be able to re-watch portions of the videos when I need to and basically go at my own pace. I feel that helps me retain the information well. The instructor encourages us to be creative and that makes the assignments fun.

This is a great course if you want to make a website, and learn as you go.. Surprisingly there werent many online courses too choose from, and this instructor has moved on from Kadenze, and not a lot of people still do the course... and some of the videos...
This is a great course if you want to make a website, and learn as you go.. Surprisingly there werent many online courses too choose from, and this instructor has moved on from Kadenze, and not a lot of people still do the course... and some of the videos are out of date (wordpress changes a lot), so you need to kind of go off the script at times.
That said the content was pretty good, it took a lot more time than I anticipated, as I was doing everything, from registering domains, too choosing a web host company, creating genuine website content, polishing themes and content.. if you just want to do it 'for the course', and a token website.. it would be much quicker.
Pro Tip: Do choose Dream Host if you can, as it just makes lots of steps easier when you can follow the instructor directly.. also Cyberduck the software used didnt work well for me, but WinSCP did. Be prepared to kind of struggle a bit.. the early part when you are setting up lots of usernames and passwords etc.. can throw you off if you arent persistent to get it up and running.. from there its good!
