This lab introduces learners to Amazon Route 53, AWS's scalable and highly available Domain Name System (DNS) web service. Participants will gain hands-on experience in configuring and managing DNS settings for a simulated corporate environment, focusing on private DNS management scenarios using Route 53's Private Hosted Zones.


Objectives

  • Create and configure a private hosted zone in Amazon Route 53 for internal DNS management.
  • Test and verify web server accessibility using network testing tools and DNS troubleshooting methods.
  • Configure DNS records for both private and public endpoints using different record types.
  • Implement and compare different health check approaches for private and public resources.
  • Configure simple routing policy with health checks for high availability.


Prerequisites

  • Access to a computer with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux (Ubuntu, SuSE, or Red Hat).
  • A modern internet browser such as Chrome or Firefox.
