Medicine Grand Rounds - Pulmonary Fibrosis - How Epithelial Cells and Fibroblasts Use the Same Language to Drive Each Other Mad

Dartmouth College via Independent

Overview

Dartmouth Health Continuing Education for Professionals Home, Medicine Grand Rounds - Pulmonary Fibrosis - How Epithelial Cells and Fibroblasts Use the Same Language to Drive Each Other Mad, 10/9/2020 8:00:00 AM - 10/9/2023 9:00:00 AM, Dr. Sheppard describes the in vivo biology of integrins and the roles they and their down-stream targets play in tissue fibrosis and cancer. He describes the phenomenon of integrin-mediated activation of latent TGFß, the roles of integrins and TGFß in multiple aspects of in vivo biology, and how dysfunctional epithelial cells and fibroblasts collaborate to drive pulmonary fibrosis. Dr. Sheppard’s work informs the research that supports pharmaceutical treatments that may help repair fibrotic lung tissue.
