This week’s session provides updates on in-patient numbers, a Strand-Specific SARS-COV-2 RT-PCR test. Assay detects the minus strand, RNA of the virus. Available to order, went live on July 31, 2020. Physicians should follow current CDC guidance for ending isolation. 


Other topics today include the RECOVERY Trial out of Oxford. Discussed the fact that this is an unprecedented clinical challenge, as it has overstretched health services, huge time pressures and personal stress for frontline medical staff and large numbers of unwell, anxious and often elderly patient. Huge therapeutic uncertainty. Discussed treatment options, including three broad categories: anti-viral treatments, immunomodulatory treatment and treatments targ3eted specifically at SARS-CoV-2. Discussed the RECOVERY trail design and results. Also discussed next steps, which includes complete evaluation of current study treatments, consider new therapies for the next way and adapting the platform for future outbreaks.
