  • Module 3: This module introduces the key concepts that are related to developing a well-organized data model.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Learn about the role and benefits of a data model in the Microsoft Modern Analytics ecosystem.
    • Learn how Power Query feeds a data model.
    • Discover the four foundational data modeling concepts.
  • Module 4: Microsoft's Power BI combines the Power Query's extraction, transformation, and loading capabilities with DAX and a relational data model in a new application with new features.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Similarities between Excel and Power BI as it relates to data connection, transformation, and overall modeling experience.
    • Navigating the Power BI interface.
    • Importing data from various data sources into Power BI.
    • Importing existing data models and Power Query solutions from Excel into Power BI.
  • Module 5: Power BI enables report authors to produce interactive reports using visuals, slicers, bookmarks, and more.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Identify how Power BI Desktop empowers data exploration.
    • Utilize the interactive capabilities of Power BI Desktop.
    • Learn how user-friendly Power BI is for designing reports.
  • Module 6: This module reviews securing, sharing, and publishing Microsoft Power BI reports as part of Power BI service.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Share reports in Power BI.
    • Create scorecards with goals in Power BI.
    • Configure row-level security for a Power BI report.
    • Publish a Power BI data model to a workspace.
    • Control access to a workspace.
    • Create comments and personal bookmarks in a report.
    • Use endorsements to certify or promote datasets.
    • Protect data with Microsoft Information Protection (MIP).
    • Apply refresh and alert schedules for a Power BI report.
  • Module 7: This module introduces potential ways that people can use Excel and Power BI together. Power BI is a great tool for telling a story through visuals; occasionally, it's beneficial to use Excel for analysis. Excel can make a connection to a Power BI dataset, enabling you to analyze the data by using PivotTables.
  • In this module, you will:

    • Configure a connection to Power BI datasets within Excel.
    • Learn about security configuration across applications.
    • Build Excel reports by using a Power BI dataset and cube formulas.
    • Enable Excel users to access featured tables.
    • Use new Microsoft Office 365/Excel 2016+ formulas XLOOKUP(), FILTER(), and LET().

  • Module 8: This module goes into the different ways users can incorporate Power BI reports or visuals into Microsoft Teams and SharePoint to collaborate with others. This functionality allows users to pair analytics with collaboration tools they are already familiar with.
