  • Python Programming

I have finished the first two courses. I appreciate all of the work and skill that Dr Chuck put into this course. I admire how he teaches teaches the important things to a wide audience without unnecessary complexity the same way that Leonard Susskind teaches physics to so many people with lots of explanation for mathematics as it is needed.

Excellent introduction to basic Python code, with a focus on parsing strings and data structures, connecting with data sources, and database basics. This five-course program was my first Python MOOC. The other, also taken on the Coursera.org platform,...

A well-structured course series for people with less or no programming background

Dr. Chuck's Python courses cover all the necessary information you need to successfully start coding in Python.

The modules cover more than just python programming itself. XML, JSON, web services, DB and OOP basics and more are explained in good detail to enable you to grasp how these things relate with Python.

Hands down one of the best well-structured video modules/series out there!!

(There are also bonus vids which include interviews with well known people in the computer world)
  • Simplicity as its best

This guy, Charles Severance is one of the best teachers I've ever seen in any of the online tutorial course so far. What is love about him is the way he teaches in the flow which is steady and gradual and you get the knowledge in a stepwise process. Another thing is what motivates the students is the bonus chapter which includes the Computing Talks and the office hours. I don't think there is a better way of presenting the online course like Charles did. Thank you very much Charles. You are Awesome.

The best part of this course was that it assumes that the viewers know nothing about Python unlike most of the other courses I have seen where it is assumes that the learner is familiar with at least one computer language. The Professor breaks down every concept and makes every lesson even clearer by including comprehensible diagrams. All in all, i would recommend this course to those who are starting with Python and also those who need to revise the basics before proceeding to something slightly more advanced.

Hats of to you doctor Chunk

Earlier I was attending "algorithms ,divide and conquer" from Stanford University and I found it really tough to understand. Still my last coding assignment is not completed.I was a bit upset , I was just checking other courses on coursera and this one happened. I found it so interesting that I sat for 3 straight nights and finished it in 3 days. I am a great fan of dr Chunk work and have infact cancelled all my schedules to attend classes for other 4 sessions.

    HELLLLLLO!!!!

Best course , very well taught and explained . The concepts are cleared from basics. Assignment helps more to understand the explained topic .
  • Outstanding way to learn Python! First, let me say that I didn't do the capstone (I kept things cost lite) but I did complete all of the non-capstone classes. These are an exceptional series of classes, and do a phenomenal job of introducing Python...
  • Excellent and easy to follow. Not trying to prove how smart he is... The problem with many MOOCs is that the instructor gets full of himself and tries to convince us how smart he/she is. Dr. Chuck was absolutely not like that, I found myself wishing...
  • Dr.g.srinivasan

Dr.g.srinivasan is taking this course right now, spending 42 hours a week on it and found the course difficulty to be easy.

This is very useful course for all. Really I am very interested to learn about this course. By studying this type of courses I will improve my skill. Now a days Python programming is an important concept for all. Not only for curriculum, it is very useful...
  • First Time A Programming Course is This Interesting!

Most of my previous tries to learn Python have hit a dead end as at some point, I lost interest. I felt that the previous courses I had taken before were talking to someone behind me. In some cases, the course was too easy. It left no room to think. Some times, the courses were too hard. As in, the instructor teach something very easy and expect you to do something 10x hard.

This course was of the right pace. Dr. Charles Severance gives you all the tools you need. I felt like riding the "Python bike". I fell, yes, but knew what to do to do better next try. Thanks a lot to the course! Will definitely continue with the rest of the modules. . .

    Learning python in a month

I am trying to learn all 5 courses of specialization within 1 month because of the subscription fee. The first course is very easy, the second course is relatively easy, the third course is medium, which I need to spend some time doing the assignments. As I jump around from a lecture in fourth course to a lecture in third course, I sometimes felt confused. Basically, this specialization is an introduction course for beginners like me to learn python. There are some topics I would like the professor to have more in-depth explanation or elaboration so that it could enhance more learning experience. It is an excellent course overall.

Thanks for Python for Everybody to give me a good opportunity of getting along with python. I've already known the basic idea of python and can now write some easy programs through weeks of study. The lessons are interesting for me and they strengthened my interest in Python, and I will continue to learn.

I plan to go ahead to learn to write some more difficult programs and it's my goal to have the ability to use python to assist in business data analysis since I'm a student who major in marketing. These weeks' lessons and my review have laid a solid foundation for my further study in the future and I'll keep study hard!
  • This is enjoyable course.

In the beginning of this course series, I felt lack in it because the first course is for programming beginners but I'm not a beginner. However, the course series stepped up interest and complexity gradually. And, in the capstone course, I found out many people in the world take the MOOC by the self introduced movie uploading project. This is amazing. Of course, programming assignment is gradually difficult. For example, the last course introduce page rank algorithm. Eventually, I enjoyed those courses. I recommend this course series for programming beginners and all MOOC players
