Common Errors in Still Life Painting (Direct Method)

via Sadie Valeri Atelier

Overview

Experience the whole process of creating a direct-method oil painting over the course of 3 to 4 days, from drawing and underpainting through to the final color layers. Learn how much time to spend on an underpainting, how to plan the progress of a painting, and what goes into creating a compelling illusion.

Sadie paints two paintings of the same subject: The first demonstrating methods that create a foundation for artistic growth, and the other demonstrating common errors of technique and judgment that can block an artist’s development.
