Overview
Attend lecture 16 of the Master's level course on Markov Chains, delivered in Portuguese by Professor Milton Jara at the Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) during the 2025 Summer School. Learn fundamental concepts of Markov Chains based on Levin, Peres, and Wilmer's book "Markov Chains and Mixing Times." Gain insights into both basic theory and recent research applications through this comprehensive program that requires elementary probability knowledge (equivalent to Chapter 1 of Barry James' "Probability: An Intermediate Level Course") and beneficial but not mandatory linear algebra understanding. Access this lecture as part of a broader course divided into two sections: a month-long introduction to basic Markov Chain concepts followed by selected advanced topics and contemporary research applications. Participate in IMPA's prestigious academic program while respecting their intellectual property rights regarding all educational content.
