Overview
This 44-minute conference talk titled "Backfiring bosonization" is presented by Yunqin Zheng (KITS-UCAS) as part of the Generalized Symmetries: High-Energy, Condensed Matter and Mathematics KITP conference held from April 7-10, 2025 at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at UC Santa Barbara. Explore recent advances in quantum field theory focusing on how symmetries can be interpreted through topological defects acting on operator spaces. The talk contributes to a decade of progress in generalizing symmetry concepts using Lagrangian field theory techniques, revealing significant implications for condensed matter, high energy physics, and quantum gravity. Coordinated by experts Maissam Barkeshli, Michele Del Zotto, Sakura Schafer-Nameki, and Shu-Heng Shao, this presentation is part of a conference bringing together leading specialists to discuss cutting-edge developments and open questions in the field.
