This lecture from the Analysis and Mathematical Physics series at the Institute for Advanced Study features Guido De Philippis from NYU's Courant Institute of Mathematical Science discussing the min-max construction to find closed hypersurfaces that are stationary with respect to anisotropic elliptic integrands in closed n-dimensional manifolds. Learn about how these surfaces remain regular outside a closed set of zero n-3 dimension, with particular focus on obtaining a uniform upper bound for density ratios in the anisotropic min-max construction. The presentation confirms a conjecture posed by Allard and is based on joint work with A. De Rosa and Y. Li. The talk is scheduled for April 29, 2025, at 2:30pm in Simonyi Hall 101 with remote access available.
