This conference talk explores the characterization of partial well-behaved lenses in bidirectional transformations, presented at PEPM 2025 by researchers from the University of Osaka and Tohoku University. Dive into the extension of lens theory where both get functions (forward transformations producing target views from original sources) and put functions (backward transformations updating original sources with updated views) can be partial. Learn how the researchers demonstrate that while Fischer et al.'s conditions work when only put functions are partial, they fail when get functions are also partial. Discover the proposed new lens law specifically designed for scenarios where both functions may be partial, advancing the theoretical foundation of bidirectional transformations. The 28-minute presentation builds upon Foster et al.'s linguistic approach to bidirectional transformation and examines the well-behavedness conditions defined by GetPut and PutGet lens laws in the context of partial functions.
