Overview

This course aims to help Sociology students develop a thorough familiarity with contemporary postmodern thinking by discussing the pros and cons of postmodernism around certain themes. The course covers earlier theoretico-philosophical approaches, the rise of structuralism towards post-structuralism, and postmodern thinking, including contributions from Heidegger, Derrida, Laclau, and others. The teaching method involves lectures on various topics related to contemporary sociology theory, including key figures like Baudrillard, Derrida, Foucault, Lacan, and more. The course is intended for Sociology 3rd grade students with a background in early, classical, and mainstream sociological theory.
