Overview

Whereas some accidents are caused by aircraft mechanical failures, others can be traced to psychological or physiological elements, such as pilot fatigue, loss of situational awareness, or maintenance issues. This course will emphasize the following topics: human performance, benefits of training, advanced technology, automation, and situational awareness with the goal of enhancing safety throughout the aviation environment.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of this course is to introduce the participant to the field of Human Factors in Aviation. Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to define human factors, identify relevant areas of application of human factors in aviation and other industries, and gain an appreciation of the importance of the human component and the human systems approach to aviation and aviation safety.
