Medicine and the Arts: Humanising Healthcare

Written 3 years ago
This is exactly the kind of course that I've been looking for quite some time, and I'm glad to have found it with the help of the learning platform-'Futurelearn'. Since I'm doing a different degree altogether, I took this course out of pure interest and in understanding about the healthcare systems, and I should say quite honestly that it didn't disappoint- not at all, and it was a wonderful experience. The course added fresh new perspectives and citations from various disciplines, which ultimately emphasized on moving from the 'modernized' way of viewing the healthcare to a post-modern approach- wherein we integrate what each and every discipline offers us in a holistic manner. That being said, I loved the assignment settings, and the forums were very interactive and engaging. The instructors have done a very neat job of organizing the ideas and I'm glad that I came across such an insightful course.

Game Design and Development: Video Game Character Design

Written a year ago
I've just completed the introductory course for Game Design and Development and I'd definitely say that it's one of the most entertaining and enlightening courses that I've taken so far. To simply dissect and analyze the characters that you've been all too familiar with- like Mario, Zelda and Pac-Man not only added a nostalgic aspect to the course but also a much more easier and nuanced way to understand the design of the characters. The concepts were also presented beautifully and succinctly to a complete layman.

This is merely a suggestion but this course could have definitely done more by adding assignments, like other Futurelearn courses, wherein the emphasis should have been on creating one's original character (with the concepts that we've learned in here), comparing and contrasting others' character, and eventually creating an environment wherein there is scope for brainstorming and new ideas.

The emphasis on personal anecdotes also made it a much more livelier course, and though I've enjoyed it overall, I did feel that there could have been much much more from this course on a personal level is the creative element- especially for those who are intent on designing their own original characters.
