These CSET preparation resources were created thanks to a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. This course covers Algebra and Number Theory and employs a methodology of self-diagnosis to speed a prospective test-takers' preparation for the exam. The components of each topic area include diagnostic questions, guided examples or questions with extensive feedback, and content refreshers.
OBJECTIVES
- The prospective teacher will be able to quickly identify areas of potential weakness before taking the CSET Mathematics Subtest I exam.
- In areas of weakness, a prospective teacher will use provided practice problems, guided examples and content refreshers to allow for quicker recall of previously learned topics in mathematics.
- A prospective teacher will be able to assess whether further formal coursework is needed before attempting the exam.
Prerequisites: Prospective teachers of mathematics should have prior coursework in algebra, even if a long time ago.
Target Audience: Prospective secondary teachers of math and science, both experienced teachers adding a teaching credential and new teachers required to pass the CSET.
