Course Report

[2021] Massive List of Thousands of Free Certificates and Badges

Thousands of courses with free certificates and badges offered by MOOC platforms, universities, companies, and nonprofits worldwide.

A certificate might be an important incentive for learners to enroll and complete a course. At the beginning of the MOOC movement, major MOOC (massive open online course) platforms like Coursera, edX, and Udacity offered free certificates. But by 2015, paid certificates had replaced free ones in most courses.

However, MOOC platforms like Coursera and FutureLearn still provide free certificates from time to time. And companies like Google and Microsoft have also started offering free certificates to promote online education related to their technologies and products.

To keep track of free certificates that are scattered across various platforms, I compiled the following list, and I will keep updating it as new offerings appear.

If you know about more offers or notice an error in the list, please let us know in the comments. And if you don’t find what you need here, either browse our extensive catalog of 30,000 online courses or have a look at our thematic collections:

To see all our compilations, visit Class Central’s Collections.

Google

My certificate: Google Analytics for Beginners

If you look for Google on Class Central, you will find Google and Google Cloud courses offered via online learning providers such as Coursera or Udacity. But Google also offers online courses through their own platforms and other third-party platforms. These are aggregated in their “Grow with Google” platform, which includes many courses with a free certificate.

So I looked through Google’s different learning platforms and compiled all their offerings. Then, I filtered the list to keep only Google’s free certificate courses.

Here is what I found: 600+ courses with free certificates and badges offered by Google. Topics include online business, digital marketing, Google analytics, and Google cloud.

LinkedIn Learning

Class Central’s @suparn searched LinkedIn Learning’s catalog of 9,000+ courses and 425 learning paths (which consist of a set of bundled courses) and identified the ones which are available for free and offer a free certificate.

Here is what he found: 185 courses and 14 learning paths offer free certificates, which represents 350+ hours of free online learning resources. You can find the list of learning paths below. And here’s the complete list of LinkedIn Learning free certificate courses.

A LinkedIn Learning certificate is available once you complete videos, quizzes, or exams. To earn a certificate for a learning path, you need to complete all individual courses in the path.

When I log in and sign up, it states that I have to pay for a verified certificate ($199) or audit the class.

For a verified certificate, you need to pay. Verified certificates are supposed to be shown if you are applying to a job because it makes it easier but I don’t think its worth learning. You will be able to get a free certificate without the silver shiny thing (which means its verified.)

Hi, great job preparing this list I appreciate it so much! I wonder if perhaps you or some of the readers here might be able to tell me where I could find free certificate courses and personal development/achievement such as anger management, conquering fears, & how to be a better person, and positivity that offer a free certificate upon course completion like so many others on different subjects do. I’ve searched and searched for many months but am unable to find any. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could share any knowledge about this with me. thank you.
