Overview

In this course, you learn to perform the complete workflow associated with a Snowball Edge device: from creating a Snowball Edge job to returning the device. You logically walk through the Snowball Edge process in the six modules in this course. Demonstration videos are included in each module to provide you with hands-on examples of the processes and supported AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) commands. Each module includes Snowball client commands and examples of use and sample outputs to help you perform the tasks required to complete a Snowball Edge job.

Course Objectives

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Create IAM users and roles, and create your Snowball Edge job
  • Prepare your environment for receiving your Snowball Edge device
  • Connect, power on, update, and configure your Snowball Edge device for data transfer or compute operations
  • Test, estimate, and monitor data transfer rates and times
  • Determine the appropriate data transfer methods and interface
  • Perform data transfer to your Snowball Edge device
  • Configure Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) compute instances, Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volumes, and AWS Lambda functions
  • Shut down services and the Snowball Edge device
  • Ship and monitor the return of your Snowball Edge device


Prerequisites

We recommend that attendees of this course have the following prerequisites:

  • Completed the AWS Snowball Edge Getting Started course
  • Completed the AWS Snowball Edge Logistics and Planning course
  • Physical and cloud storage foundational skills
  • Foundational AWS skills (Cloud Practitioner Essentials certified or equivalent)
