This course provides an introduction to the concepts, techniques, and principles of project management. Primary emphasis will be on learning the project management process outlined in the Project Management Institute's PMBOK Guide (Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide). Agile, extreme, and other variations of project management will be discussed and their key features related to the PMBOK Guide.
Upon completion of the course students will be able to plan, schedule, budget, estimate, control, and monitor projects. In addition, they will become familiar with resource allocation, resource loading and the creation and use of GANTT and PERT charts.
Purchase of the PMBOK Guide for use as a text is optional. For those wanting to use this course to support new or continuing certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI), purchasing the text is recommended. A certificate and supporting documentation is available for a fee upon completion of this course. This certificate can be used to meet professional development requirements for the PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Project management for Business professionals is a course that introduces you to practical concepts in the management of projects including various methodologies. The instructor, Peter Von Stackelberg uses a small number of videos, and plenty of reading materials from other websites to introduce you to the subject. The instructor has a lot of practical experience on Project management and participants get a good idea on the factors critical to managing different types of projects and the various common mistakes committed by project managers. Overall a great course for practicing project managers as well as business students who will have to manage projects of varying sizes during their career. The course materials focus more on the concepts of PMBOK methodology of the PMI (Project Management Institute) even though other methodologies like agile are covered in lesser detail.
