What a great course! I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in clinical research and wants to understand how statistics is used in clinical research. I loved all aspects of the course. The lecture videos were short and crisp. Dr. Klopper is very engaging and explained even the hardest concepts really well. The quizzes let you apply what you learn. The peer review assignments are a great way of soliciting and giving feedback. Learning this course has really enriched my statistics knowledge.

I have attempted taking courses or reading books on medical statistics earlier, and every time, I took a few baby steps and then aborted. I was good at maths in school, but hey, twenty years in the medical profession, and the confidence sags. This time, I got a bird's eye view of the entire subject, with sufficient detail where required. This course is comprehensive, without being intimidating, and focuses on an intuitive grasp of the subject. I can say for sure that I am more motivated now than ever before, in conducting clinical research the right way. The foundation stones have been laid. I can now build on this knowledge, without fear of statistics getting in the way.

I found this course good for beginners. Although I have only high school education I didn't find it hard.

I learned a lot of new terms and understood the basics of some interesting statistical concepts.

The lessons were very clear, the use of graphs helped me a great deal, Teaching free data retrieval and analysis tools was cool, and the Keynotes were great for review.

The quizzes and tasks are fair, and easier then i expected.

D.R. Klopper Thanks a lot,

You were very pleasant and you seem to have sincere interest in the subject and teaching it.

I promise that if i publish a research, I won't forget to enable free accesses to the data!

If you didn't learn the statistic's calculation : don't be afraid.

The Instructor is lecturing made it simple to understand although you didn't know math.

The contents emphasize in understanding clinical's research : Type of research, Variable, Method and statistical analysis of research, Interpretation of research results.

The peer review assessment make you more confident in reading and interpret the clinical research.

It was an excellent course; comprehensive and very well-explained, indeed without needing to apply much mathematics. Therefore, the course is perfect for most researchers, doctors or allied personnel wanting to learn or enhance their understanding on the statistics behind research, beginners or semi-advanced. I would only recommend the teacher to include an extra week on survival analysis, a very important and frequently misunderstood topic. Thank you for the nice course.

The material is very dense, but the explanations were good. I had to review the material a lot, but I think that is the nature of this topic. I loved the way the course was organized between videos, reading, tests and assignments. I especially benefitted from the real-world examples that were used in the material. In fact, I think the course could have included even more! I got out of it exactly what I wanted: a basic understanding and ability to assess a study's strengths and weaknesses. Very good use of my time!

Dr Klopper is an excellent teacher. The lectures were very well done and the lecture notes were helpful. Statistics is a difficult subject, but the concepts were explained clearly without too much complicated math. It's a very good course for learning how to read biomedical literature with a critical eye, in order to judge whether study results have been interpreted correctly by the authors or the authors have drawn conclusions that are not justified by the data.

Juan did a fantastic job in explaining basic statistic principles and using examples from medical journals to put theory into practice. After taking this course, the statistical section of the medical papers will not look daunting anymore. Highly recommend this course to health professionals who want to gain basic but crucial statistical knowledge!

Definitely one of the better courses on the subject. Highly recommended. However, a basic understanding of statistics might be required to understand the matter.

It is tough to get a grasp on statistics in medical research, due to the complex explanation statistics books give about it. This is a fantastic course to get a great understanding on the use and interpretation of the most common statistics used in research, it's explain in such a way that it makes it very intuitively to understand and apply. The practical approach Dr. Klopper uses in his short and very informative videos will be such an eye opener, the practical quizzes help a lot in reinforcing what you understood from the topics at hand. The peer review assignments do a great deal in build into you a critical and accurate analysis from the research papers' methods. This course will have a great impact on how you see medical research and it will even have a great effect on how you will design your own future research after you have finished this fantastic course!

I really enjoyed this course, and much appreciated for the work put in by the course organizers. This is a very interesting subject for me. I highly recommend this course to health professionals that are interested in clinical research and wants to understand how statistics are used in clinical research and gain basic but important statistical knowledge!

The organization of the course between videos, reading, tests and assignments was well balanced. This is the first course on statistics that I have completed yet so far. I plan to continue with my statistical training in the near future.

This course helped me to develop an understanding of choices of statistic tests and why to use that specific test. Having finished the course, I feel more confident and ready to meet every challenge that can occur concerning the statistics bit of research protocols.

Great thanks to Doctor Juan H Klopper and his team for this course! It was an exciting course and I was really interested to get new (for myself) information about the statistical analysis and clinical research. I found out that my previous attampts to read medical articles failed because of the lack of understanding of all those numbers and "strange" words. The way of giving this knowledge is quite fascinating. On the one hand, the material is difficult, but on the other, it is given as easy as possible. There were times when I needed the translation of some notions and I used Google help. The statistical articles in my native language frightened extremely with plenty of terms and equations, so I hurried to get back to my favourite course.

It was really useful, opened new horizons and gave an impact to learn further!

First of all, thank you so much for designing this course so beautifully. It is a very brief and comprehensive course for beginners and it is also helpful for intermediate statisticians. I'll definitely recommend this course to my juniors to learn from this comprehensively informative, beautifully designed and well-delivered course. I have learnt a lot from this course because I started this course as a zero and now I feel that I am able to critically think about and select the statistical test before designing a cross-sectional, case-control, cohort or experimental studies regarding health or other fields of my interest. Most importantly, I love video instruction along with supplementary reading notes and the quiz section was one of the most interesting aspects of this course.

I am a trained physician and decided to take the course to better understand the massive amount of information that is constantly being presented to me. This was certainly accomplished. The course helped me remember things I may, or may not, have learned in med school many, many years ago.

I realize there is a lot more to clinical research but with this course I feel I'm much better prepared to critically analyze the medical literature.

As a bonus my medical students will also benefit from this course because now I'm better prepared to coach and guide them in our simple research projects that will hopefully be the first steps to some high quality medical research in the future.

Very Good and thank you very much.

I took this course as a refresher course in preparation for pursuing my MPH degree. I have to say it delivered more than I expected. This was my first time signing up for an online course and finishing it. I think part of the reason I was able to finish it is because it has practice quizzes which I felt kept me on track and on my toes and also helped me to review the material. The course instructor is also very passionate about statistics and that kind of passion is infectious and I think that also helped me stay on track, he easily explained concepts. Some of the concepts he explained I always knew but just didn't understand them the way I do now. I would highly recommend it.

I would like to thank Juan and the organisers of this course. I would recommend this course to everyone who needs to know about stats. This is the first course on stat that I have completed and understood in great depth. This course helps you to develop deep and thorough understanding of choices of stats tests and justification for the choice. I can't thank Juan enough. You've made difficulties in understanding stats in articles decrease to a great extent. I like that fact that you pull all the learnings together with a case study on how to link it all together. Thank thank you so much. I already recommended to a colleague. I will spread the news.

I am a physician-scientist, but never had a strong understanding of statistics. This course was excellent. It covered essentially all of the commonly used tests in medical and social research. Still, it was not overwhelming. It was clear and concise, yet had sufficient examples. I would say that the instructor, from South Africa, uses some phrases that might take a moment to fully grasp. I guess you could say the "lingo" is not 100% American. That is fine- after all this course is being studied by people around the world. I only mention this to suggest you listen to him carefully. Overall, an excellent course and an excellent experience!

This course is a great tool. It explains simply and intuitively a great deal of statistical parameters and methodologies used in clinical science. The aim is to understand intuitively, without entering in the mathematics itself. I can see a fair deal of benefit of taking it if you are, for example, a scientist without statistical background but willing to understand papers, a student about to take statistics (as an introduction course), a scientist with statistical background forgotten (as a summary course). The teacher made the videos short, to the point and interesting, using simple examples to draw a picture of the topic.
