What is Microsoft Azure AZ-301?

The Azure platform from Microsoft is a public cloud computing platform that was formerly called Windows Azure. It provides multiple cloud services for users including computing, networking, storage, and analytics.

The AZ-301 Microsoft Azure Architect Design training covers the Azure components used for design and architecture solutions within the platform’s services. The AZ-301 exam is one of two (the other is AZ-300, Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies) exams that individuals must pass to obtain the Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.

What is Involved in this AZ-301 Microsoft Azure Architect Design Course?

This AZ-301 course covers all of the objectives that are tested on the AZ-301 exam. Passing both the AZ-301 and the AZ-300 exams is required to obtain the Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.

The Azure Architect Design exam tests candidate’s knowledge in six key subject areas. These areas are:

  • Determine workload requirements
  • Design for identity and security
  • Design a business continuity strategy
  • Design a data platform solution
  • Design an infrastructure strategy
  • Design for deployment, migration, and integration

Training will also cover best practices for test preparation, so that students are fully prepared to take and pass the AZ-301 exam. To sit the exam, students must have already passed the AZ-300 exam.

This course is ideal for any students who want to become Azure cloud architects, those who are preparing to take the AZ-301 exam, and those who are interested in learning the Microsoft Azure platform.

What is the Difference between AZ-300 and AZ-301?

The AZ-300 and AZ-301 exams are separate exams that must be passed for students to earn the Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification. The two exams replace the older 70-535 exam, which was retired on December 31, 2018. The subject areas that were included on the 70-535 have been divided between the two new exams, so that each area can be validated more thoroughly.

The AZ-300 Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies exam is designed to test and validate a candidate’s expertise in Azure’s computing, storage, security, governance, and data solutions. The AZ-301 Microsoft Azure Architect Design exam is designed to test and validate a candidate’s expertise in the design and architecture of solutions within the Azure platform’s services.

Why Take this AZ-301 Training Course?

There are multiple reasons that taking AZ-301 training is beneficial for students. Perhaps the best reason is that it’s a necessary step to achieving the Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification. Students who enroll in the AZ-301 course have most likely already taken and passed the AZ-300 exam. Failing to be prepared for the AZ-301 exam may result in failing the test, which will derail individuals from receiving their sought-after certification.

Additionally, taking the AZ-301 training and test preparation will help advance students in their career paths. As more and more organizations opt for using the Microsoft Azure platform, more experts in the area are needed. The demand for professionals with Microsoft certifications rises accordingly, as do the salaries that these professionals receive. The average salary for a professional with the Azure Solutions Architect certification is $130,583 in the U.S., and that is with only 5-9 years of work experience.

What Does the AZ-301 Exam Entail?

The AZ-301 Azure exam includes questions in the following subject areas (percentages indicate the how many questions from each area candidates can expect):

  • Determine Workload Requirements (10-15%)
  • Design for Identity and Security (20-25%)
  • Design a Data Platform Solution (15-20%)
  • Design a Business Continuity Strategy (15-20%)
  • Design for Deployment, Migration, and Integration (10-15%)
  • Design an Infrastructure Strategy (15-20%)

The AZ-301 exam will have between 40 and 60 questions. The specific number of questions is subject to change over time. The question formats may include multiple-choice, short answer, review screen, mark review, drag and drop, case studies, hot area, best answer, and active screen. Exams may include some or all of these question formats. There is two and a half hours allotted to complete the exam, and a score of at least 700 must be achieved to pass the test.

How is it Best to Prepare for the AZ-301 Exam?

The AZ-301 Microsoft Azure Architect Design exam is considered to be intermediate level, requiring candidates to be proficient in the subject areas mentioned above. While individuals who have already passed the AZ-300 exam will have some of the knowledge that is tested on the AZ-301 exam, as there is some overlap, it’s still important that they have the additional training and review that are covered in an AZ-301 training class, like the one we offer at Cybrary.

The AZ-301 Microsoft Azure Architect Design training course provides students with comprehensive instruction that will ensure they have covered all topics that will be on the exam. At Cybrary, we are committed to helping our students learn the best test preparation strategies, so they can enhance their knowledge and advance their IT careers.
