Overview

This program uses creative thinking, communication, collaboration, design, and future thinking to develop sustainable solutions to problems that are holding virtual communities back from thriving both pre and post pandemic. While we generally think of community as people in a given geographic location, the word refers to any group sharing something of interest. While specific examples may include a faith community, race/ethnicity, cultural community, or professional community, this program is focused on virtual world communities. Specifically, this program will embrace the dynamics of a community’s context, the need to increase engagement in a virtual world, demonstrate how successful communities share information, identify community messaging and behaviors, manage accurate data transfer, and learn to effectively network in a virtual world. During the past 3 years the need for innovative solutions that are driven from grassroots energy have become more and more important. The awareness of the need to uncover, communicate, deliver, sustain, and improve community programming is increasing. This is now all happening in a virtual world across continents and countries. Leading Community Based Projects in a Virtual World is delivered in three-5 module courses. This program will introduce communication tools to encourage virtual work groups and develop opportunities for connection with support networks from around the world.
