Good public speaking is more than a performance. It is the result of:

Amazing course, best explanations possible, because they are provided by Dr. Matt McGarrity, public speaker, a man whos specialization is explanations. No certificate is provided though the impossibility of real checking what you've learned. Amazing skills and knowledge instead. I recommend it to just everyone, because you talk every day; if you add a bit to the quality of everyday talking - you gain a lot.

This course was extraordinarily good. I was looking for an opportunity to improve my public speaking that could fit in to my way-too-busy life. I'm familiar with the MOOC format; it's convenient for sure. However, I did not expect that it would work very well for public speaking. I was wrong. The structure and delivery of the content is very good; Matt McGarrity is, not surprisingly, an excellent communicator. What did surprise me was how well the 'homework" worked. The homework is to prepare and deliver various short speeches, which you record and upload to youtube [set to private viewing]. Prof McGarrity provides a grading rubric, which you use to review and provide feedback to two other course participants. I found these exercises amazingly effective. Knowing someone (anyone!) will view your speech elicits a fairly high degree of effort; and, reviewing others' speeches with the rubric is illuminating also. I highly recommend this course. I notice that Prof McGarrity is offering it on the Coursera platform now. Check it out!
