Indiana University via edX Professional Certificate

Overview

Learn how to collaborate, connect and communicate with your team in today’s virtual world of work with this business skills certificate. These power skills (sometimes called soft skills) are keys to advancing your career in the digital workplace.

Communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, collaboration, adaptability, and creativity will set you apart as an employee or job seeker.

The courses in this program will guide you to work effectively with others. Working effectively in the remote work environment requires heightened self-awareness and understanding. You will learn concepts, practice important skills, and apply tips and scientifically based models in order to build trust and navigate difficult workplace situations.

Kelley School of Business faculty who are experts in communication and career/professional development will guide you to choose effective ways of creating connections with teammates and others in virtual work.

Here is an example:

After a meeting, you receive a work chat message from a colleague and they seem to be frustrated or angry with you. This scenario is considered a difficult situation. When in a physical office, you can gauge the level of frustration in a way that differs from a chat message. How do you respond? Working effectively with others contributes to your personal brand and social media presence that affects your virtual network.
