About our Presenter
Dr. Lee Kaplan graduated from Harvard University and received his MD and PhD in molecular biology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at MGH and HMS and a fellowship in genetics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is a board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Obesity Medicine. His research focuses on the role of the gastrointestinal tract and gut microbiota in the regulation of energy balance and metabolic function, including the mechanism of action of bariatric and metabolic surgery, as well as the genetic determinants of obesity and its response to therapy.

Learning Outcome(s)
Participants will be able to describe why obesity is a disease that should be addressed in a non-stigmatizing manner, evaluated in a systematic method and treated in accordance with the heterogeneity of the disease.
