Credit Risk and Credit Analysis

This course is Part 1 of the Credit and Credit Risk Analysis Professional Certificate program from the New York Institute of Finance. The course begins with an introduction to risk management and credit principles. You will review and understand credit risk, credit exposure, and the goals of credit analysis. You will learn about the purpose of debt, debt forms, and the difference between financing from debt vs. equity.

In this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of the principles of credit risks, including exposure, default, default probability, expected loss, and loss given default. Important concepts will be covered that will help you to effectively assess business and industry risks, company business models, market competition, and the impact of risks on company performance. You'll examine how companies measure and mitigate these risks.

Lastly, you'll review the roles of credit-rating agencies and the usefulness of market-related metrics, such as share prices and credit spreads. At the end of the course, you'll complete a hands-on risk analysis assessment.

This course is Part 2 of the Credit and Credit Risk Analysis Professional Certificate program from the New York Institute of Finance. In this course, you willlearn how to review and analyze financial metrics and ratios that are used to assess borrowers performance and profitability. You will look at a few companies' business models, revenue generation, asset-conversion cycle, and asset quality and asset productivity.

You'll also review and analyze financial metrics and ratios that assess borrower liquidity, working capital and working investment, and short-term funding.

Lastly, you'll learn how to analyze leverage and capital structure of a company and understand the borrower's off-balance-sheet risks, the risk of organization structure and the risks of management strategy.

This course is Part 4 of the Credit and Credit Risk Analysis Professional Certificate program from the New York Institute of Finance. In the first part of this course, you'll focus on Projections. You'll begin with a review of warning signs in financial statements and industry trends that signal financial deterioration. You'll review methodologies and approaches to performing financial projections and learn how to prepare financial projections of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows.

In this course, you'll analyze and assess capital structures, debt capacity, and debt amortization. Learn how to make recommendations about possible financing structures based on financial condition, performance, and projections. This course will also cover how to sensitize projects for several scenarios.

In the second part of this course, you'll learn about structuring and touch on documentation. You'll review, analyze, and understand capital structure and financing needs for the company (borrower). You'll learn how to make risk decisions about existing and new credit exposure and recommend new-debt financing based on financial projections and borrower's objectives and needs. You'll also learn how to structure new debt facilities or funding arrangements based on assessment of risks, projections, and outlook. Lastly, the course will finish with a quick look at the principles of loan-portfolio management.
