Overview

This course explores the foundations and practices of the student affairs profession in higher education, focusing on developing a deep understanding of student development theories, ethical decision-making, and the role of student affairs in supporting student success. Students will learn about key issues in higher education, gain practical skills in advising and supporting students, and explore strategies for creating inclusive and supportive campus environments. The course uses a combination of readings, case studies, discussions, and practical assignments to help students apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations. This course is designed for current and aspiring student affairs professionals, as well as anyone interested in working with college students in a supportive and developmental capacity.
