Class Central Tips
Based on an understanding of architectural styles, you will review architectures for web applications, then explore the basics of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) in two approaches: Web Services (WS*) and Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture.

In the Capstone Project you will connect a Java-based Android application with Elasticsearch, a web service with a REST application programmer interface (API).

After completing this course, you will be able to:
• Describe SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) to structure web-based systems.
• Explain WS* services (i.e., SOAP over HTTP, WSDL, UDDI, BPEL).
• Apply REST architecture (i.e., JSON over HTTP, URI).
• Identify REST design principles.
• Create a system using REST interfaces.
• Apply microservice architecture.

    Octavio Galindo completed this course, spending 5 hours a week on it and found the course difficulty to be hard.

    The curse is good but you must have some knowledge on OOP, UML and Java. These subjects are covered in other courses of the Software Design and Architecture Specialization, therefore taking this SOA course alone, is not easy unless. The best is to take the whole specialization and follow the recommended sequence.
    The topics are discussed and presented with good theoretical basis, which is an aspect other online courses fail on when focus on the tools.
    I strongly recommend this course as well as the whole specialization.

    Super fast speaking, you need to pause the video each 2 seconds that Lady must win a super fast speaking contest.

    Try it with subtitles and pausing the video each 2 seconds.

    Definetly not recommended if English is not your first language.

    This course do not fit with the idea of an International good MOOC. They try to cover a lot of content in 3 minutes with a fast speaking mood.
