University of Wisconsin–Madison via edX Professional Certificate

Overview

The Professional Certificate in Online Education is a comprehensive experience that provides the knowledge, skills and resources needed to plan and teach quality online courses. The certificate is constructive and practical, and you will immediately apply what you learn to an online course you are teaching or plan to teach.

Created by UW–Madison instructors with decades of online teaching experience, this course will prepare learners to teach in the online learning environment and use a learning management system. With more learners demanding access to high quality education online, instructors need to use the tools of universal design and employ best practices of online learner engagement.

Using research-based instructional design principles and online teaching best practices, by the end of this course you will complete one module, or one week, of your own online course in a learning management system that you can use as a template for additional modules. After you complete this course, you can be confident that you are designing high quality courses for online learners that make use of universal design and best practices.
