Overview

This course aims to educate participants on the developmental impact of ADHD, the DSM-5 criteria for ADHD, co-morbidity issues, emotional impulsiveness, etiology and risk factors, treatment options including stimulants and non-stimulants, non-pharmacologic interventions, and psychosocial treatments for ADHD. It also covers topics related to disruptive behavior disorders in children and adolescents, including the epidemiology of childhood major depressive disorder, differential diagnosis, treatment, and understanding the correlation between ADHD and DMDD. The teaching method involves a lecture format with a focus on understanding the overlap between ADHD and emotion dysregulation, including the underlying neurobiological processes. This course is intended for healthcare professionals, particularly those in psychiatry or psychology, who work with children and adolescents experiencing ADHD, DMDD, and related disorders.
