How to Equitably Close the CS Education Gap

This course aims to teach participants how to contribute to increasing inclusive computer science (CS) education in the U.S. and BC, Canada, particularly for students who are typically excluded based on race, gender, and geography. The course covers the TEALS program by Microsoft Philanthropies, focusing on building sustainable CS programs in high schools. Participants will learn about the importance of equitable CS education and how to get involved in this industry-wide effort. The teaching method includes a mix of presentations, discussions, and practical steps for volunteering and implementing the CoTeach model. This course is intended for individuals interested in promoting diversity and inclusivity in CS education, including educators, volunteers, and advocates in the field of technology education.
