2.07 Stars.2.08 Constellations.2.09 Extragalactic Objects. This course offers an introduction to the night sky. Through two hours of lectures, students will learn to recognize the relative motions of celestial bodies including the Moon, planets, stars, constellations, and extragalactic objects. Student will learn to recognize the phases of the Moon, calculate eclipses and understand the annual motion of Earth relative to other celestial bodies. Students will also learn to recognize the major visible constellations and use binoculars to view planets, stars and deep sky objects.
