Overview

This introductory course to Bioinformatics uses Python programming as its main tool. The main aim of this course is to equip beginners with the knowledge to carry out basic bioinformatics tasks, such as DNA sequence manipulation and sequence analysis. Topics include working with data types (string, lists), slicing and indexing, finding reverse of a sequence, reusing sequence analysis code without rewriting, with functions, counting features in multiple genbank files, generating DNA sequences using python, finding complements of nucleotide sequences and reverse complements using dictionaries, lists, loops and functions, and finally running python codes online.
