Reimagining STEM Education and Industries for Black Girls

This course aims to challenge exclusionary norms in STEM fields and propose innovative strategies for fostering inclusivity, particularly for Black girls. The speaker emphasizes the importance of representation, mentorship, and encouragement in empowering Black girls in STEM to drive innovation, diversity, and progress. The course teaches about anti-racism, anti-Black racism, and anti-oppressive practices, drawing from over a decade of experience in education equity consulting. The teaching method involves a TEDx talk format, focusing on inspiring and thought-provoking storytelling. The intended audience includes educators, system leaders, community partners, and institutions looking to address and remedy the impacts of inequity on Black and racialized students in STEM education and industries.
