This course covers the following learning outcomes and goals: understanding different types of data (nominal, ordinal, interval/ratio), recognizing sampling error and variation in statistics and data science, learning about various sampling methods, designing questionnaires and surveys, writing effective survey questions, grasping statistical inference, selecting appropriate statistical tests, comprehending statistical significance, debunking the correlation-causation fallacy, interpreting summary statistics like mean, median, and mode, understanding standard deviation and other measures of spread, practicing identification of data types, and gaining an introduction to experiments. The course teaches individual skills such as data classification, sampling techniques, questionnaire design, statistical test selection, and data interpretation. The teaching method includes theoretical explanations, practical examples, and interactive exercises. The intended audience for this course includes beginners and intermediate learners interested in gaining a foundational understanding of statistics and data analysis.
