Specialization in Systems Biology is a Capstone project

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai via Coursera

This course may be unavailable.

Overview

NOTE: In order to take this course you should have taken and complete the following courses in the Signature Track: Introduction to Systems Biology, Network Analysis in Systems Biology, Dynamical Modeling Methods for Systems Biology, Experimental Methods in SB and Integrated Analysis In Systems Biology

Syllabus

The Capstone course will begin Monday June 22, 2015 and end on Friday July 31, 2015.

The Capstone project will allow students to conduct an original research project that builds on a published research article.  We will provide three potential projects and each student will choose one.  There will be projects focused on network building and analyses, dynamical models and statistical modeling to identify genomic signatures.

For each project we will provide

       1. A lead research article on which the project will be based, with an associated dataset.

       2. 4-5 additional references relevant to the project

       3. A question that students can address in the project

Students are free to use one of the projects we provide or formulate their own project/question. Once the project is selected, students are encouraged to find 4-5 additional papers relevant to the project and work on the project and write a report.
