What Should I Expect When Taking the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate Certification Exam?

The AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification exam consists of about 65 questions (this may vary), for which candidates have 130 minutes to complete. The exam questions are multiple-choice and multiple-answer formats, that cover the following topics and are weighted as shown:

  • Domain 1: Designing Resilient Architectures – 30%
  • Domain 2: Design High-Performing Architectures – 28%
  • Domain 3: Design Secure Applications and Architectures - 24%
  • Domain 4: Design Cost-Optimized Architectures - 18%

There are no other certifications that are prerequisites for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification exam. However, AWS recommends that candidates have spent at least one year deploying distributed systems, at scale, using AWS cloud services. The cost of the exam is $150, and it must be renewed every two years.
