Introduction to jQuery

Microsoft via edX

Overview

jQuery is the most popular library for JavaScript. In this course, you will learn how to use jQuery to add additional power and interactivity to your web pages. You’ll see how to take advantage of jQuery in your web pages, how to work with the HTML document, and even make server-side calls.

Using jQuery, the JavaScript programmer has access to many of the powerful tools common to desktop and mobile developers use, like building event handlers and using effects for a responsive UI, the ability to manipulate your user interface without having to refresh the entire page, and creating asynchronous calls to keep your web application responsive. With jQuery, you’ll be able to take your web pages to the next level!

I never though learning about jQuery could be that fun! Loved the teaching style, and the labs were a great touch in doing things yourself. I'd suggest splitting the course into 3 more weeks, since the last two were a bit difficult to grab in short time. There should also be a separate deadline for evaluation - having all projects due at the same time, including evaluating, is a bit too much. Even though this is a minor remark, I'm hoping for more courses like these, and I'll be sure to check out the bootstrapping one as well. Great job!

The course was very interesting. Mr Harrison is very good at presenting content and getting people motivated to study and apply it, he's funny as well. It is not compulsory but I would recommend to know a bit about javascript before and of course the basics of HTML / CSS. The part 3 is a bit more challenging, but it could be nice to have a more complete lab on this part. The only thing that could be better would be a longer course with more "pro" tips.
